DIY After-Sun Soothing Gel Recipe

Prolonged exposure to the sun can leave your skin feeling dry, irritated, or even sunburned. A natural, homemade after-sun gel can help cool and hydrate your skin, reducing redness and promoting faster recovery. This simple DIY recipe uses gentle, skin-loving ingredients to soothe sun-damaged skin.

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup Aloe Vera Gel (liquid form works too, but gel is preferred for consistency)

Soothes and hydrates irritated skin while reducing redness.

• 1 tbsp Coconut Oil (Fractionated)

Lightweight and moisturizing, it locks in hydration and nourishes skin.

• 1 tsp Vitamin E Oil

A natural antioxidant that helps repair skin damage.

• 3-5 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Calms skin irritation and adds a relaxing scent.

• 3-5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

Provides a cooling sensation to refresh sunburned skin.

• Optional: 1 tsp Rosewater

Adds extra hydration and a subtle floral scent.

Instructions

1. In a clean glass bowl, mix the aloe vera gel and fractionated coconut oil until well combined.

2. Add the vitamin E oil and essential oils (lavender and peppermint). Stir gently.

3. If using, add rosewater for extra hydration and mix well.

4. Transfer the mixture into a sterilised jar or pump bottle for easy application.

How to Use

• After sun exposure, apply a generous amount of the gel to clean, dry skin.

• Gently massage it onto sunburned or sun-exposed areas until absorbed.

• For an extra cooling effect, store the gel in the refrigerator before use.

Storage Tips

• Keep the gel in a cool, dark place or the refrigerator.

• Use within 3-4 weeks for maximum freshness.
